My name is Giada Parris. I have been married to my best friend for four years. I have been teaching for 14 years. I taught kindergarten for 6 years and this is my eighth year teaching 2nd grade. I enjoy working out, reading and spending time with my family and friends. I have a beautiful little girl. Her name is Giuliana. She has been an added blessing to our family. I am looking forward to a great year.

Students are tardy if he/she is not in the classroom by 7:55 am. During this time, attendance and lunch counts are recorded and assignments are given. He/she needs time to put away their bookbag and get materials for the day.

Homework is assigned to reinforce skills taught in class. Please make sure homework is completed each night and returned daily. Everyday Math is a spiral approach that reinforces skills while introducing new concepts.

Complete math HW each night Unit test will be given Grades will be a “C” consistently demonstrates “S” sometimes demonstrates “R” rarely demonstrates

Low balance notices will be sent home on Wednesdays. You should deposit additional money into your child’s account as soon as you receive a low balance notice Lunch with children-please make sure you notify the teacher by 8:00 a.m. on the day you would like to eat, so that you can be included in our lunch count. All visitors will need to bring a driver’s license or SC identification to be scanned to obtain a visitor’s pass to enter the cafeteria. Please make sure that you don’t bring any restaurant food to the cafeteria for yourself or your child.

Students who want to play on the equipment must wear their tennis shoes. Students without tennis shoes can play on the grassy areas.

Students need to read at least 20 minutes each night and log their books on their reading log. Students will be given a reading bag that needs to be returned each day. Weekly spelling words will be given on Monday. Students will be tested on all 10 words on Thursday.

Transportation changes - a written note from the parent must accompany any changes in bus routes or changes from bus rider to car rider. If you forget to send a note, you will need to come to the office to make the transportation change. Routine changes will not be permitted over the phone. Please leave transportation tags on bookbags all year long. It is important that a child be at school for the entire day. Please only obtain early dismissals when absolutely necessary. We ask that all early dismissals be made by 1:45 p.m.

We will communicate with you in several different ways! Phone Postcards Conferences (please make sure you are signed up for a conference!)

From time to time, parents may like to send treats to the class. Because increasing numbers of students have food allergies, diabetes, and other health issues, we ask that you send treats that are non-food items, such as pencils, stickers, etc. so that all children in the class may enjoy them! Second graders are responsible for unpacking and packing their own homework folder and bookbag. Please clean out the “keep”side of the folder daily. Remind your child to turn in any assignments, money, or transportation notes left in the folder.

for taking the time to attend Second Grade Night! I look forward to working with you and your child this year. It is going to be a wonderful year filled with exciting learning activities!
