 Jonas hates being the receiver of memory.  Jonas hates when they release people.

 Jonas is a boy that was different because of his eyes. The giver found this out and wanted him to work as the receiver of memories. As he starts receiving the memories he starts getting feelings like sadness and love. He watches a ceremony about a release and got sad and took a little kid Gabriel who was going to be released with him to run away.
