Nucleic Acid Molecules -DNA, RNA and ATP -Structure and Functions Jan / 2019

What are Nucleic Acids? In Bio 12 – we will look at 3 types of Nucleic Acids: DNA RNA ATP NOTE: ALL 3 Nucleic Acids are made up of nucleotides

DNA nucleotide (nucleic acid monomer)

DNA = a polymer (made up of nucleotide monomers)

RNA Structure = a polymer (made up of nucleotide monomers)

RNA Function RNA is used to manufacture proteins 3 types of RNA are involved: rRNA – used to make ribosomes tRNA – involved in translation – brings amino acids to build a polypeptide chain mRNA – involved in transcription – is a copy of the DNA code that can leave the nucleus (will discuss the details of each type of RNA when we talk about protein synthesis)
