Steps to Protein Synthesis
Basic idea of Protein Synthesis
Terms to know Codon- sequence of 3 nucleotides on mRNA- specifies an amino acid Anticodon- complement to codon on tRNA it carries the correct amino acid to mRNA. Point mutation- just a single nitrogen base in a nucleotide is changed. Codes for a different amino acid Frame shift mutation- nitrogen base is added or deleted, changing every three nucleotide order that follows. Every amino acid is now incorrect for protein needed.
Transcription in Nucleus-mRNA makes complement of the ‘recipe’ DNA has for needed protein
mRNA moves to ribosome and rRNA begins Translation of mRNA mRNA moves to ribosome and rRNA begins Translation of mRNA. rRna then summons tRNA to attach
Anticodons of tRNA come to the mRNA on ribosome Anticodons of tRNA come to the mRNA on ribosome. tRna carries the specific amino acid it codes for. CCU Proline Amino acid
tRNAs dump their amino acids at the spot on the mRNA stand where they find their match. This allows a long chain of amino acids to form A Protein is born!!!! Yay!!!! Protein Synthesis has occurred!!!!
