January 12, 2018 How did the map of New World between 1713 and 1775? What do you think happened to cause this map to change? 1713 1775

Use the short video guide as you watch: French & Indian War

Follow the PPT as you read pages 95-97

Read page 95 “The French and Indian War” Year - 1675 King Philip, also known as Metacomet, opposed the colonials’ efforts to take land from Native Americans. This resulted in “King Philip’s War.”

French and Indian In the eyes of many Native Americans, French settlements differed from English settlements. How? Read “Native American Allies” on page 95

Read “War Erupts” on page 96 Mid 1700s Read “War Erupts” on page 96 British colonists want to settle the Ohio River Valley to support what trade? Why did the French want to keep the British out of the Ohio River Valley?

Fort Necessity Who was in charge? Did he win or surrender? What was the result?

Britain wins Florida (from Spain) Treaty of Paris - 1763 What were the terms of the treaty? Britain gets Canada Britain gained all French land east of the Mississippi River (-New Orleans and two islands) Britain wins Florida (from Spain)

Result? Britain gains lots of new land! What does this mean for the country? Colonial Settlers begin moving west into new territory. Native Americans lose more and more land, leading to more conflict between the two groups (Pontiac’s Rebellion 1763) All of this led to the Proclamation of 1763

Proclamation of 1763 Predict how you think the British colonists are going to feel about this new law.
