Thursday April 27, 2017 Who be came the first black streetcar conductor in San Francisco and later red her poetry at the inauguration of president Bill Clinton! Born in St Louis, Missouri, in April 1928, Maya Angelou is the African-American author who overcome so much to reached her goals. Maya received national attention when she published her book titled I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. She was nominated for an Emmy award for her roll in “Roots.”

The Book Thief Turn to page 241. We’re going to read to page 251. As we read: Remember, while we’re not having a traditional reading guide over this section, we’re still going to have a quiz at some point! Make sure you’re annotating as we go for easy studying 

Holocaust Survivor Project Introduction (1-2 slides – 5 points): Introduce your survivor to the class. Make sure you include: Name of your survivor Country/region of home Reason for his/her persecution Age at liberation A picture of your survivor Biography (2-3 slides – 15 points): Tell us your survivor’s story. Describe their experiences during the Holocaust and how they survived. Did any of their relatives or friends survive? What did they do afterwards? Timeline (1-2 slides – 10 points): Provide a timeline of your survivor’s life, beginning with the Holocaust and ending with the date of the interview (or date of death, if applicable). Include at least ten major events during their lifetime. Your Decision (1 slide – 5 points): If Death from The Book Thief had met your survivor, what color would he have seen? Why? Explain your decision, and be sure to refer to your color symbolism chart if you need help. At Least 5 Images (5 points) Bibliography (5 points): Make sure your website is properly cited in MLA format. If you’re lost, check out easybib.com or perdueowl.org for help. 
