2. Tuesday February 28, 2016
Each year in early Febrary, visitors gather in the Japanese City of Sapporo for an event that could only happen in icy cold whether. During the cities Snow Festival, master carvers and builders create beautiful works of art out of ice and snow. Started by hi school students' in 1950, the festival gained international attention when Sapporo hosted the Winter Olympic games in 1972 people from all over the world travel to Japan for this specail event.

3. Romeo and Juliet: Film Comparison!
Today, we’re going to watch two film versions of Act 1 of Romeo and Juliet. The first film is a more traditional version of the play, while the second version we’re watch is a more modern version.
As we watch, you’re going to fill out a Venn diagram comparing the two versions of the play. At the end of class, it will be your job to write a short response (5+ sentences) about which version you like better and why.
Remember, character journals are due today. If you did not finish yours on Friday or over the weekend, you may need to sneakily work on them while we watch the film! 
