New France New France was the area colonized by France in North America from 1534 to 1763.

The French and Indian War A war in North America between France and Britain (both aided by American Indian tribes) from 1755 to 1760. The war was part of the larger conflict known as the Seven Years War

The Seven Years War The Seven Years' War was a world war that took place between 1754 and 1763 with the main conflict being in the seven-year period 1756–1763. The main combatants were England and Prussia fighting against France and Austria. England would eventually be victorious.

Treaty of Paris A treaty signed in 1763 by the British, French, and Spanish that ended their involvement in the Seven Years' War.

Writs of Assistance A written order (a writ) issued by a court instructing a law enforcement official, such as a sheriff or a tax collector, to perform a certain task.

Sugar Act A law passed by the British Parliament in 1764 raising duties (taxes) on foreign made sugar imported by the colonies so as to give British sugar growers in the West Indies a monopoly on the colonial market. the colonial market.
