2 French and Indian War Britain and France claimed
rights to the Ohio River Valley. French seized British site in PA and built Fort Duquesne.

3 Both sides sought Native American help.
British seek alliance with Iroquois Confederacy. They refuse, but promise to remain neutral.

4 Albany Plan of Union Benjamin Franklin proposed a united colonial government. Plan is adopted but fails. No colony would agree to give up any of its power.
