Avoid manual shifting of heavy materials INCIDENT A painter and a helper were rolling a 20” - 600# blind flange to shift into the painting bay after grit blasting. While doing so, the painter slipped and lost balance thereby releasing flange but stretching his hands on floor to arrest his fall. Unfortunately, flange tilted and fell on his left hand fingers which sustained crushed injuries. ROOT CAUSES: Manually shifting heavy flange (387 kg.)
