1 HSE LEARNING INCIDENT:
HGV driver injured his back when he was involved in a road accident at the Nizwa – Imty junction (at 23:21) while transporting pipes from Muscat to Haima. The vehicle left the road and travelled approximately 40 meters where it struck the compound wall of a building. CAUSES: Driver under the effect of alcohol Failure of the Journey Management Centre LEARNINGS: Do not drive or work under the effects of drugs or alcohol Robust Journey Management should be Implemented Wear seat belts when in a moving vehicle Enforcement of Consequence Management Key Learning: Don’t drink and drive and always wear your seat belt RTA – Back Injuries Use this Alert: Discuss in Tool Box Talks and HSE Meetings  Distribute to contractors  Post on HSE Notice Boards  Include in site HSE Induction Contact: MSE511 for further information or visit the HSE Website Alert No 87 LTI # July, 2012
