The starting place for job hunting! Resumes The starting place for job hunting!

Format and Content Do not use fancy fonts and try to get creative with your resume (exception: applying for a graphic arts job). Include your name, phone number, and email address (no need to include your physical address). Various ways to format and order your resume. Include education. Under experience, use bullet points to describe the tasks for which you were responsible. List any related training/education you have received.

But, I haven’t had a job! What do you put on your resume if you haven’t had prior employment? At this juncture of your life, employers to whom you will be applying will consider candidates without previous experience. However, you must show them, via your resume, that you have skills, are responsible, etc. Volunteer work Babysitting Yard work Tutoring

Employment Application Be sure you have all the information you need with you to complete an employment application. Create a “note” in your phone that contains the necessary information. References: Have at least three people whom you can list as references and be able to list their phone number and email address (these would be in your “note”). Always contact the people you plan to put as a reference in advance and ask if they are comfortable with you listing them. The people you choose should be able to speak to your work ethic, responsibility, etc. Organization/Company: You will list where you worked/gained experience, the location, and the dates you worked there.
