V.P., Corporate Operations and H.R. LOOKING FOR A JOB? How To Create A Resume And Fill Out An Application To Score An Interview! Jennifer East V.P., Corporate Operations and H.R. Stuller, Inc.

Creating a Standout Resume USE A TEMPLATE Search the internet or Microsoft Word for a template. Keep it simple, but personalized. Use consistent formatting throughout Check your spelling and grammar- be careful to not make mistakes! Don’t forget contact information- is it appropriate? EXPERIENCE Highlight accomplishments and include any clubs or community involvement you have participated in. Don’t exaggerate your skills or experience! Be honest. Studies show approximately 75% of resumes have a lie on them. CUSTOMIZE YOUR RESUME Read the job description for the position(s) you are interested in thoroughly. If you include an objective on the resume, it should be relevant to the position you are applying for. Use key words to highlight why you are the perfect candidate for the job. Have the resume proofed by several people.

Job Applications https://careers-stuller.icims.com/jobs/dashboard ONLINE APPLICATIONS Online applications have become very common within most companies. Once an application profile has been created, be sure to save the log in information to update it as needed. Avoid creating multiple profiles with the same company. Double check that all fields within the online application have been filled out completely and accurately. If information is missing, employers could skip over your application. GENERAL APPLICATIONS If the question “What makes you an ideal candidate?” is asked, answer it in complete sentences (i.e. I believe I would be an ideal candidate because I am able to remember and find information quickly because I am well organized). Avoid using a one word description (i.e. Organized). Use professional references like coaches, teachers, or past employers. Avoid using family and friends. SOCIAL MEDIA Do you have social media accounts? Would you be embarrassed if the person interviewing you looked at your profile(s)? It is wise to review your social media before submitting an application. https://careers-stuller.icims.com/jobs/dashboard

Interviews Here are a few quick tips once you’ve scheduled an interview: BE ON TIME Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your interview. There could be additional paperwork to fill out, or there may not be any open parking! DRESS APPROPRIATELY What type of job are you applying for? Employers like to see that applicant’s are taking the interview seriously. (i.e. Pinterest is a great place to see examples of interview attire) ANSWER THE QUESTION Make sure you are answering what was asked and not what you THINK the interviewer wants to hear. DON’T BE SHY Ask questions! Research the company. Review their website or search for them on the internet. Having 2-3 prepared questions prior to an interview shows you have been proactive when thinking about the interview, and more importantly, the job.

“Before anything else, PREPARATION is the key to SUCCESS.” Alexander Graham Bell
