Violence Against Women & Community Planning 3/31/2017 Violence Against Women & Community Planning GVAWP links with structures in Glasgow’s 5 strategic planning areas via Violence Against Women Implementation Groups (VAWIG’s) AIMS of VAWIG’S: Create a city wide infrastructure to take forward GVAWP priorities Build capacity for multi-agency working Contribute to locality based statutory and voluntary sector service development in relation to VAW Develop shared protocols and practice Promote recognition among locality based agencies of the wider impacts of VAW on communities pauline.kelly2@glasgow.gov.uk judy.hunter@glasgow.gov.uk Pauline Kelly, GVAWP pauline.kelly2@glasgow.gov.uk

Violence Against Women & Community Planning 3/31/2017 Violence Against Women & Community Planning CHALLENGES Partnership Fatigue Lack of knowledge / expertise on VAW within agencies – broadening the definition Capacity to engage Connecting the Centre and city wide providers with locality structures Development agenda vs enforcement agenda Achieving consistency OPPORTUNITIES Coordinated, multi agency approach to implementation of strategic commitments to tackle Violence Against Women through SOA Wider set of services & engaged with VAW Agenda Use of existing structures minimises partnership fatigue Reach of VAW provision extended pauline.kelly2@glasgow.gov.uk judy.hunter@glasgow.gov.uk Pauline Kelly, GVAWP pauline.kelly2@glasgow.gov.uk

Violence Against Women and Community Planning 3/31/2017 Violence Against Women and Community Planning Started to look at FSF investment in relation to strategic priorities Disagregated FSF VAW investment by CPP area Disaggregated FSF VAW investment by form of VAW Feed into future planned investment Starting to broach a more strategic approach to investment by disaggregating the FSF investment on VAW by CPP area and by form of Violence Against Women. Investment majority of investment is in historical projects inherited from UP & SIP (57%) of a total £706 338 However, the big budgets sit within the mainstream services and a possible future challenge could be to undertake a similar exercise with partners in order to establish a more complete picture of investment pauline.kelly2@glasgow.gov.uk judy.hunter@glasgow.gov.uk Pauline Kelly, GVAWP pauline.kelly2@glasgow.gov.uk

Violence Against Women & Community Planning 3/31/2017 Violence Against Women & Community Planning Practical Examples: Locality Planning and Development: SW & West Localities hosted multi agency development sessions to identify VAW priorities Events organised through VAWIGS and funded through CPP Development Funds Priorities from development sessions incorporated into CPP’s Safe Plans VAWIG’s report to Safe Theme Groups and the GVAWP Multi Agency VAW Training: In the North locality over 200 staff from RSL’s, CHCP’s voluntary sector, Police, Culture and Sport Glasgow and Glasgow Community and Safety Services received basic awareness raising training. Organised by the North VAWIG, delivered by Greater Glasgow Training Consortium / CHCP and funded through the Fairer Scotland Fund Follow on evaluations using GGTC materials now about to be undertaken Other localities adopting this model Resource Development: Directory / Toolkit – managed by VAWIG, funded by FSF Translation of resource materials into community languages, managed by RCC, funded through FSF Campaigns: 16 Days programmes funded by FSF through Safe and Vibrant Theme budgets International Women’s Day Joint Planning Sessions Training – planned by multi agency groupings, funded by FSF, Delivered by Training Consortium Resources pauline.kelly2@glasgow.gov.uk judy.hunter@glasgow.gov.uk Pauline Kelly, GVAWP pauline.kelly2@glasgow.gov.uk
