Passes at CMS Procedures for leaving class, using the elevators, and other things related to being in the hallway

ELEVATOR PASSES To use the elevator at CMS you must have an injury or other circumstance that makes it difficult for you to use the stairs. Only the NURSE or the FRONT OFFICE can decide if you have a need to ride the elevator. You will need a special “elevator” pass if you are going to be in the elevator. You may get a pass from the NURSE or the FRONT OFFICE only. The passes will be valid for only one week at a time. So, this means you will need to go back to the NURSE or the FRONT office each week to get a new pass. If the pass you are given is marked “NO HELPER” then you may not have a friend ride with you.

Student Authorized to Use Pass: Elevator Cele Middle School Pass Student Authorized to Use Pass: This pass will be REVOKED if it is not used by the student named above in an appropriate manner as instructed. Possessing a pass that is not assigned directly to you will result in an office referral with additional consequences. This pass entitles the student named above and ONLY ONE helper who is in the same grade and going to the same class to use the elevator due to injury or other special circumstances within the time frame specified below. Pass is only valid if has been filled in completely with an approved signature. All students riding in this elevator must have an elevator pass like this one:

RESTROOM PASSES Flush Wash Leave To use the restroom during class time ALL students MUST have a pass. Go directly to the restroom on the same floor as the class you are leaving. When you get to the restroom, you will HANG your pass on the HOOKS provided. Follow the Colt Commitments for expected restroom behavior which are: GO Flush Wash Leave Be sure to throw your paper towels and other trash IN the trash cans.

Restroom Passes Signs near the bath room will look like this: Be sure to HANG your pass on the hooks OUTSIDE the restroom!

Picture of passes hanging outside restrooms Restroom Passes Be sure to hang your pass on the hooks outside the restroom. Do not take them into the restroom with you. Picture of passes hanging outside restrooms will be added shortly

Restroom Passes Make sure you are in and out of the restrooms BEFORE the bell rings. Being in the restroom is NOT an excuse for being tardy to class. IF you do not have time to go between classes, wait 10 minutes and then ask the teacher for permission to go during class. Take advantage of the extended times during the day when you can use the restroom such as lunch or PE.

Restroom Passes First 10 Last 10 of class

Restroom Passes Remember: Only go to the restroom that is on the same floor of your class and is the same color of your pass. If you are caught in a different area without the correct pass, you will be assigned a consequence by an administrator. Go directly to where you are supposed to be, do what you need to do, and then go directly back to class. Do not wander or delay.

NURSE PASSES If you are needed in the nurses office, she will send a pass for you to the classroom. If you are required to visit the nurse regularly, the nurse will write a pass for you in your agenda stating this or give a you a pass that you will keep to show when you should leave class.

LIBRARY PASSES To go to the library before school or during lunch, you will need to have one of the GREEN passes. To go to the library during class, you will need to have a pass in your agenda signed by the teacher. You may go to the library at other times (between classes, etc.) but only of this will not cause you to be late getting someplace else.

OFFICE PASSES If you are needed by the office, an administrator, a counselor, content mastery or other staff a pass will be delivered for you to the classroom.

ALL OTHER PASSES There will be NO passes for water. Please drink water between periods or carry a water bottle with you to class. All other passes of any kind for any reason should be written in your agenda and include the date, time, destination and be signed by the teacher who is writing the pass. This can be done in the “passport” section or on the actual date for that day. If a teacher needs to see you during a class, advisory, before school or after school, that teacher will need to write a pass in your AGENDA for that day. If you do not have a pass from the teacher, you will not be released to go to their classroom. No matter where you are going in the building, you MUST have a pass. It is YOUR responsibility to remind the teacher to give you one. You should EXPECT to be stopped by teachers and asked to present your pass in the hallway. Kindly show it to the teacher with respect and then be on your way.
