Monday, march 12, 2018 Do Now: complete writing and presenting 3 point claim (1&4-2), and counterargument and present it. Get a computer if evidence chart is NOT finished Homework: finish essay sequence & review your evidence chart Did I use the language of the essential question in my claim and counterclaim? Do my topic sentences connect to thesis? Does my evidence support my reason? Do I have a credible counter-argument and rebuttal? Are my citations correct? 20 minutes for evidence and/or review and/or sequence example essay reading

Complete your claim & counter-argument When you write your 3 or 2 part claim- underline the road maps Counter-argument = needs a because with one reason. Present your claim and counter-argument to the class.

Sequence the Essay For those finished with your evidence, follow the instructions. Turn it in when you are finished Yes, some elements of the essay will have more than 1 sentence—put them in order too. Think about the elements of the essay as you go.

Again, what should I double/triple check on my evidence chart? All the same things we talked about last week. Did I use the language of the essential question in my claim and counterclaim? Do my topic sentences connect to thesis? Does my evidence support my reason? Do I have a credible counter-argument and rebuttal? Are my citations correct? Are my sources credible? Have I followed the directions?

Tuesday, march 16, 2018 Do Now: 1. Homework: PNI top row-hooks-issue or controversy 2. Complete the top row only Positive, Negative, Interesting for your topic. This is not evidence. You will use it tomorrow in your groups.

Instructions for Test reflection No talking– this time you need to go through the test on your own Choose several of your errors. Write down the question. Write out the correct answer choice, not just the letter. Most importantly, provide a reason for why that is the correct answer. Example: Which of the following transitions would be appropriate before sentence 2? The correct answer is First, because it is the first reason to support the topic sentence. Most importantly, reflect on why you had an error. Next time you can change your strategy or habits when test taking.

Add to MLA Notes If there is an author’s name, then you use the last name. If there is a page number, then use the page number. (Jones). (Jones 14). (Jones 14-16). If there are two authors, then put both last names. (Jones and Patton). If there is no author, then use the article title and page number. (“Infectious Diseases on the Rise” 16). Evidence chart Highlight each article title: “Infectious Diseases on the Rise” You will have 8 total Make sure they are in quotes, capitalized correctly, legible Highlight each MLA citation and the end of quote “blah blah” (Jones). For the 1 source with no author, highlight no author
