1 Argumentative Essay Peer Evaluation

2 Part One: Color coding…Choose three colors that you will use to underline/highlight on your peer’s rough draft. First color: underline/highlight thesis statement Second color: underline/highlight pieces of EVIDENCE in body paragraphs -Remember evidence might be a quote, statistic, or historical fact Third color: underline/highlight transitional words/phrases

3 Part Two: Quick Evaluation
Split a piece of paper between you and your partner. At the top, put your name and your partner’s Evaluator: Writer: Was there anything that your partner missed or forgot in their draft so far? (explanation of evidence, counterargument, rebuttal, hook…) Evaluate the strength/logic of your partner’s supporting arguments (topic sentences). Were they too similar? Were they able to back them up with evidence? One thing they did well so far. One specific part of their essay that they need to revise and WHY. (could be use of academic language, order of sentences, strength of evidence, use of transitions, spelling/grammar throughout, etc.)

4 Part Three: Action Plan
Review your partner’s evaluation of your work. At the bottom of their evaluation, write a 2-5 sentence action plan for revision. What are you going to change/add/delete from your current draft? ROUGH DRAFT COMPLETELY DONE DUE MONDAY Final draft completely done due WEDNESDAY (you may turn it in early if you would like)
