A CADEMIC OBJECTIVES Develop a hypothesis Select and use appropriate tools and technology to perform test, collect data, and display data. Construct appropriate graphs from data and develop qualitative statements about the relationship between variables. Communicate the steps and result from an investigation is written report and oral presentations. Recognize whether evidence is consistent with a propose explanation. Read a topographic map and a geologic map for evidence provided on the maps and construct and interpret a simple scale map.

A CADEMIC OBJECTIVES ( CONTINUED ) Interpret events by sequence and time for natural phenomena. Identify changes in natural phenomena over time without manipulating the phenomena (eg. A tree limb a grove of trees, a steam, a hill/slope). In addition, students will be able to communicate using relevant vocabulary and age-level academic terminology based on course content.

D AILY AGENDA There will be a daily agenda posted on the whiteboard everyday. This agenda will also he posted on yourhomework.com In addition, all previous assignments are kept in the binder for those who do not have access to the internet. Students are encouraged to write their daily agenda and homework in their planner for each class.

G RADING Academic grades are based upon the following: 1. Tests 25% 2. Quizzes 25% 3. Assignments 25% 4. Journal 25% A letter grade will be assigned based on the overall average of these categories based on the following scale: 1. A = % 2. B = % 3. C = % 4. D = %

T UTORING Tutoring is available Mon –Thurs for the first 15 minutes of lunch.

A SSIGNMENTS All assignments must possess proper heading to insure credit. Student name, period, subject, and date on the upper right-hand side of the paper. Only papers bearing teacher stamp will be given credit. All work may be done in pencil and blue or black pen. All work is due at the start of class. So if you are late to class when an assignment is due then so is your assignment.

L ATE W ORK There will be no acceptance of late assignments nor will diminished credit be given in this class. The only work you can turn in after the due date is: 1. Work due the day you were absent. This is due the day you return. 2. Work assigned the day(s) you were absent. You have the responsibility of checking the whiteboard or assignment binder when you return to see what work you have missed. You may also go on yourhomework.com. If handouts were assigned, they may be found in the handout file. Then check with the teacher for your due date. The rule is, for a one-day absence you have one class period to make up the assignment. For a two-day absence you have two periods, and so on. 3. A study buddy will come in handy to help make up missed work or if there are questions about homework or classwork.

M ISSED TESTS AND QUIZZES The same rule applies to test/quizzes. If you were absent on a test day only, you must take it the day you return. Other provisions will be made for longer absence so check with the teacher. The teacher will not be responsible for reminding you personally about either missed work, quizzes, or tests. Students must check the assignment binder, whiteboard or yourhomework.com. yourhomework.com elearning.sandi.net

A BSENCES DUE TO REHEARSALS, CONCERTS, PERFORMANCES OR AUDITIONS Each student involved in any of the aforementioned types of activities shall still be responsible for any and all assignments given during his/her absence. Said student is equally responsible for all work due during his her absence. Work may be brought to the classroom or placed in Mrs. Fairleys faculty box. Students should realize that if you trust a friend with your assignment, that you are still ultimately responsible for its arrival.

TARDIES Students need to be seated when the bell rings or they are considered tardy. Repeated unexcused tardy will result in lunch detention, parent contact, and lowered citizenship.

P ORTFOLIO Student portfolio will contain all tests and quizzes given during that grading period. All test and quizzes must be corrected on a separate sheet of paper. The answers must incorporate the question. The test or quiz must then be signed by the parent and returned to the teacher for credit. This will indicate parent knowledge of the grade and that the student now understands the concepts.
