Move On When Ready

What is Move on When Ready? Move on When Ready is Georgia’s new dual enrollment program that allows high school students (9th-12th grade) to earn college credit while working on their high school diploma. The new Move on When Ready replaces Accel, Hope Grant for dual enrollment and the previous Move on When Ready programs.

Allows high school students to take college classes and receive both high school and college credit. MOWR program covers the cost of tuition and mandatory fees as well as provides required textbooks. Students can participate fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students can register for up to 15 hours each semester at each institution that they attend.

Who is Eligible vs. Who is Ready? All high school students who meet the postsecondary requirements are ELIGIBLE to participate in MOWR. Eligibility usually based on academic GPA and test scores (SAT, ACT, Compass, Accuplacer). When evaluating whether a student is ready for college-level coursework look beyond GPA and test scores. If a student is disorganized, a perfectionist, unassertive, easily overwhelmed, unwilling to ask for help and relies to heavily on parents – may want to reconsider if READY!! ELIGIBLE IS NOT ALWAYS READY!!!!!

Benefits of MOWR Flexible to the needs of each individual student. Participate in both the college coursework and experience. Exposes student to course options not available at high school. Demonstrates a student’s ability to handle more difficult coursework and could boost college applications.

EGSC’s MOWR Requirements Student must have academic GPA of a 3.0 or higher Student must be on track to graduate completing the 17 Required High School Curriculum required by USG. Student must have qualifying test scores: SAT – combined critical reading and math score of 970 ACT – composite score of 20 Compass – Reading 74, Writing 60, Algebra 37 Accuplacer – Reading 61, Writeplacer 4, Elementary Algebra 67 Student must obtain approval from high school counselor and parent/guardian by completing the MOWR Student Participation Agreement – required every term attending as MOWR student.

Steps to Get Started as MOWR Student Meet with high school counselor about interest, requirements, and advisement. Submit online EGSC admissions application. Submit preliminary high school transcript with required GPA. Provide lawful presence documentation. Submit test scores via score report or set up appointment to test – must have high school transcript and lawful presence to test Submit MOWR Student Participation Agreement. Advisement and Registration Once accepted as a MOWR student at EGSC you will be required to participate in an Advisement/Registration session. Advisement/Registration will take place with our MOWR Coordinator by appointment and the links to set up appointments will be forwarded to accepted students. Before the start of each term all MOWR students will be required to participate in one of our New Student Orientation sessions – dates TBA.
