2. What is Move On When Ready
The Move On When Ready (MOWR) program provides the opportunity for high school students to be dually enrolled in a participating eligible postsecondary institution in Georgia. These students take postsecondary coursework for credit towards both high school graduation or home study completion and postsecondary requirements. Beginning with Fall term (FY 2016) the program is offered during all terms of the school year; fall, spring and summer semester or fall, winter, spring, and summer quarter.
The new Move On When Ready program now covers tuition, mandatory fees and required textbooks.

3. What students are eligible?
Eligibility
To be eligible for the MOWR program, a student must:
1. Be enrolled in the ninth, tenth, eleventh or twelfth grade of a private or public high school in Georgia or a home study program within the State of Georgia operated in accordance with O.C.G.A. § (c);
2. Be admitted to an eligible, participating USG, TCSG or Private postsecondary institution as a dual credit enrollment student;
3. Be enrolled in courses listed in the approved MOWR Course Directory;
4. Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the eligible postsecondary institution.

4. How many classes can I take?
Students and parents are encouraged to work with their school counselor to create a schedule that will work best for the student. This may mean going to the college to take as little as 1 class to as many as 5 classes possibly more if desired.

5. What kind of classes are offered?
There are a wide range of classes that can be taken. Students can chose anything from Introduction to Welding, to Accounting, to College Calculus. There are many possibilities for students. Your school counselor can help you pick the best path.

6. How does this help me?
There are several benefits for students who participate in Move On When Ready.
Introduces students to college-level coursework.
Earning college credits while still in high school may enable students to graduate early and/or possibly even earn an associate degree, diploma or certificate.
Helps students adjust to certain aspects of the college experience (e.g., classes, coursework, instruction, being on a college campus) so the transition from high school to college may be easier.
Students who participate in a dual enrollment program are more likely to go to college and get a college degree.
Students may be able to take classes that are not offered at their high school, especially in subject areas they are interested in for a potential career.
Participating in a dual enrollment program demonstrates a student’s ability to handle more difficult coursework which is something college admissions officers may look upon favorably during admissions and recruiting.
Taking college-level classes while still in high school may build confidence and encourage those students who may not be thinking about college to reconsider.

7. How do I start?
To participate in Move On When Ready, students must sign an advisement form with their high school or home study program, meet the admissions requirements at the postsecondary institution of their choice and make satisfactory academic progress.
Interested students should see their high school counselor and visit GAFutures.org for program information and the application.

8. RCPS Move on When Ready
RCPS has a partnerships with several of the area’s post secondary institutions and have had students attend GPC, GPTC, Gordon College, Point University, Georgia State University, and Georgia College and State University. While this is a short list of schools, students are able to attend any school in the state that is approved.
Some of the schools listed also offer classes at Rockdale Career Academy which makes it convenient for RCPS students.

9. Things to consider
Are you planning on going out of state for college? If so, you will need to check with your school to be sure they will accept it.
Are you planning on majoring in a STEM field? If so, be purposeful about what classes you take.
Are you mature enough/ ready to take a college class in high school?
This is the beginning of your college GPA!!
