RACCOONS By Chase williams

The amazing Raccoon Scratch ! Scratch ! Scratch ! Did you know that the raccoons nickname us the Bandit because it’s black mask. Here are some amazing facts about the raccoon.

Diet The diet of a raccoon is almost anything they can find. Raccoons are omnivores and they eat trash. They eat crabs, clams and bird eggs. They can also eat small birds too. Raccoons use there forefeet to hold and grab on to their food and eat it. Meat Plants crabs trash clams nuts Bird eggs seeds Small birds fruits fish Small plants

what the raccoon looks like The raccoon has a black mask on it’s face. The raccoons fur sticks up. They also have long black claws. The raccoon can have five to seven stripes on their tail. The raccoon has a big bushy tail. It’s 12 inches to it’s shoulder. The raccoon is sixteen to twenty-four inches. There 4 to 26 pounds.

WHAT IT DOES These animals are great swimmers and climbers. They have hooked toenails to climb trees. They can climb down trees head first. They are nocturnal which means the raccoon hunts at night and there mischievous.

habitat Raccoons live ponds lakes and streams. They can live also any where in the Americas. They can live near and along beaches and swamps. The raccoon can also live in the cites. They live in trees and have there own home range.

lifespan Raccoons can be 5 years old in the wild. Raccoons can live to be 15 years old in captivity. They have up to 3 – 4 babies. There kits leave there mother at 10 weeks old

other amazing facts There litter is 3 to 4 kits. Mountain lions and possibly hawks are the raccoons are predators. Males are larger than the female raccoon. The raccoon has blubber to keep warm in the winter humans abuse the raccoon.
