Mammals are warm-blooded. They have hair or fur. They give birth to live young and the mother feeds the babies with milk. Mammals breathe with lungs. Here are some of the attributes.

Jaguars are like giant cats with light yellow, red-brown and pure dark black spots. Jaguars have other colors. Some are just pure black with yellow caramel underneath its body. Jaguars can grow up to four to five feet tall and no larger.

Jaguars enemies are mostly caimans and anacondas, but humans are the biggest predators to a jaguar. Anacondas are the second biggest predators to male jaguars and female jaguars. Believe it or not jaguars are afraid of us that’s why they try to kill you.

Many jaguars live in caves to get away from predator s. They mostly live in the Rain Forests of Central and South America. They are good swimmers and love water. Jaguars will fight other jaguars to protect their territory and their young.

All jaguars live alone. Male and female jaguars only comes together to mate. Many jaguars hunt together to catch their food. They can travel hundreds of miles every day and are very good swimmers. They are mostly active between dusk and dawn.

A Diagram of a Jaguar

The jaguar is a carnivore. That means he is a meat- eater. It is a fast, solitary hunter that hunts mostly at night. It hunts around dawn and dusk. It eats wild hogs, alligators, birds, and turtles.

Jaguars watch their prey and then sneak up on it by leaping from the ground or from a tree. They kill large animals by pouncing on the back and breaking the neck of its prey. If the deer is too big to eat in one sitting, it will bury some of it with leaves and twigs to hide it from other animals.

Jaguars are the third largest cat in the world. Only lions and tigers grow larger. Jaguars sink two, long teeth called fangs into an animal’s skin to catch and hold them.
