Minnesota Business Leadership Network Disability Inclusion Summit & Career Fair

Overview MNBLN Mission MNBLN is an employer-led endeavor that promotes best practices that enhance employment and career opportunities for skilled individuals who have a disability.

MNBLN Members Business members Providers Large, medium and small Disability Owned Business Enterprises (DOBE) Governmental entities Providers Community organizations and nonprofits Governmental entities and academic institutions

Benefits of Membership Networking opportunities Member meetings Training events Annual career fair/event Disability awareness training Mentoring program

MNBLN Mentoring Program Piloted a mentoring program for the first time this last year It was a 3 month mentoring experience connecting college/university students with disabilities, recent college graduates with disabilities, and individuals with disabilities who have completed a specialized training/certification program to experienced professionals from MNBLN’s member companies. Our goal was to offer supportive one-on-one relationships where participants share their insights, perspectives, and experiences to better enhance their career development, advancement and employment opportunities.

Results of MNBLN Mentoring Program 4 full time, 1 part time and 3 still looking due to other future planning Anastasia - Leadership Justice Program in Connecticut, full time Madison - sophomore, pre-med Jillian - Goodwill Easter Seals, full time Greg - State of MN, full time Katherine - PCA part-time, finishing school in December or May Katy - K-12 schools, substitute teaching, full time Christine – no specific employer at the time, but is involved in politics/advocacy Christina - plans to finish school in May, looking at different internship opportunities, extended her meetings with her mentor beyond the program over the summer
