3 On Campus Employment F-1 students may work at Rollins College without special permission; eligible in first semester J-1 students must receive special permission from OISSS to work; eligible in first semester Maximum 20 hours per week while school is in session; full-time during the winter and summer breaks

7 Curricular Practical Training (CPT) (F-1)
Eligible after completing one academic year in U.S. program of study Work authorization for F-1 students to participate in approved internships Must be “integral part of established curriculum” and directly related to major Authorization must be issued on Form I-20 BEFORE work begins!! Maximum 20 hours per week while school is in session; full-time during winter and summer breaks.

8 Academic Training (J-1)
Eligible after completing one semester Work authorization for J-1 students to participate in approved internships Must have academic objective related to field of study Authorization granted by OISSS advisor Requires review and approval of a faculty advisor Must be issued before program end date on Form DS-2019

Upload job/internship-specific required documents: resume, cover letter, class schedule, etc. Remember, the more you apply, the higher your chances of landing a job!

12 Optional Practical Training (OPT) (F-1)
Eligible after completing one academic year in a U.S. program of study Pre-completion Post-completion Work authorization for F-1 students to gain practical work experience Can be used before or after degree completion 12 months of full-time authorization per degree level Limited opportunities to extend with a STEM degree Must be approved by OISSS and USCIS

13 Economic Hardship (F-1)
Available to students experiencing sudden, unexpected changes in economic situation Must be able to document the change Must be approved by OISSS and USCIS

14 Unauthorized Employment
Work outside of authorized types of work is a violation of your immigration status Unauthorized employment will become part of your permanent immigration record May result in arrest, detention, or removal from the US Beware of employers willing to exploit you OR who are ignorant of the law. SPAM offering employment. Ask OISSS if you have questions.
