A push factor induces people to leave their present location. A pull factor induces people to move to a new location. There are three kinds of push and pull factors. Economic, cultural and environmental.

The attractiveness, or the pull of the region can shift with economic change.

A refugee is a person forced to migrate from a country, usually because of political persecution.

People are pulled to attractive places and pushed from hazardous ones.

Interregional is moving from one region of a country to another, and intraregional is movement within a region.

Not as many people migrate internationally Not as many people migrate internationally. If they do, it is voluntary or forced, meaning the migrant was compelled to migrate by cultural factors.

The US has Quota Laws on migration, meaning there is a maximum number of people allowed to immigrate to the US.

Guest workers will take the low skilled, low paying jobs that the country’s citizens will not take.

The population center is the average location of everyone in the country. 1790 1990 If the US were placed on a pin, and each person weighed the same, the population center would be the point where the pin is balanced.
