I. The Renaissance A. Following the devastation of the Black Plague Europe begins to lift its self out of the Dark Ages. B. Beginning in the Italian city of Florence around 1350 the Renaissance would spread to all of Europe by the year 1600.

I. Renaissance C. The Renaissance was an intellectual and artistic revival inspired by the rediscovery of the ancient text and artifacts from Greece and Rome. D. The Renaissance was an awaking of cultural and artistic developments which were dormant during the Dark Ages.

I. Renaissance E. During the Renaissance mankind stopped looking solely to the afterlife and started looking at ways to make life on earth more enjoyable. F. Man began to look at himself and the world in a whole new way. This is best reflected is in the art work of the time.
