An exciting new curriculum Every half term you be kept updated with what your child will be learning in school (Share Our Learning Letter) This year we will be using the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to deliver history, geography, art, DT, computing and some science. There are letters with more information about the units and how you can support your child at home.

School Uniform Children are to wear the correct uniform every day, including appropriate footwear, black shoes (not trainers). Dark coloured tights for girls if you wish when the weather gets colder. PE uniform: Children must wear black or blue shorts. No leggings or tights (in winter socks need to be put in your child’s PE bag if they are wearing tights). The PE kit is brought in the first week and stays in school until the end of the half term (unless it is dirty or wet) Jewellery is not to be worn at all. No nail varnish at all please.

Behaviour Good to be Green. ACE Assembly House Points Stickers ‘Like’ tokens Attendance awards

Home Learning Please hear your child read every night and sign the reading record book. Just 10 minutes a day has a significant impact on progress. Your child will be given spellings every week (Thursday) to learn, which will be tested usually on a Tuesday, these will be recorded by the children and will also be on the website. Your child needs to practise times tables and related division facts each week up to 12 x 12. These will be practised in class however I will randomly assess them throughout the half term. Your children have a mental arithmetic work book and a reading comprehension book and are expected to complete a page a week. This will be handed out on a Thursday and needs to be returned to school every Tuesday morning. Sometimes during the term, your child will receive IPC home-learning. This is your chance to get creative with them.

School dinners The school dinners are delicious and I highly recommend them. If your child is on packed lunches please ensure they are healthy and balanced as this will help their learning in the afternoon. No fizzy drinks are allowed and plain water is always a good choice. Fruit juices contain a lot of sugar.

Information pack Just some information you might find useful in supporting your child’s learning at home: Parent Handbook Curriculum letters Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 spelling lists Times tables list Questions to ask when reading Examples of assessments

Keep in touch The Year 6 page on the school website will be regularly updated, so please keep having a look at all the exciting things we are doing! Green cards – ask your child on a Friday Reading records – signed please Playground at the end of the day Social media – Facebook, Twitter
