1 Meet the Teacher 2019 Year 6

2 A busy year ahead!! We start this year with: Term 1- Revolution. This will be linked into other learning where appropriate.

3 TRIPS so far! Term 1- Morwellham Quay – Tuesday 1st October.
Residential – Heatree House – Wednesday 8th June – Friday 12th June

4 Expectations Homework – Set on a Wednesday, must be completed by following Monday. (maths/spelling/English/creative) P.E –Tuesday and Friday. Correct kit needed – black top with school logo, dark shorts, trainers or plimsolls. Ensure PE kit is in school everyday. School uniform- no trainers, shirts tucked in, small studs only please. Reading – every night. Children will be developing their skills in school and Miss Broadhead reads to children everyday.

6 SATS in May (Monday 11th – Thursday 14th)
No holidays will be authorised just before or the week of SATS Monday Spelling Punctuation and Grammar test (SPAG) (45 mins) Tuesday Reading Paper (1 hour) Wednesday Arithmetic paper (30 mins) Maths Reasoning paper 1. (45 mins) Thursday Maths reasoning paper 2. (45 mins)

How will your child be assessed? Using age related expectations Working above ARE at greater depth Working at ARE Working below ARE SATs paper score will be converted into a raw score and standardised. If your child has a score above 100 then they are AT ARE. If they are above 115 then they are above ARE (working at greater depth). Progress is based on their KS1 SATs result.

9 Learning isn’t just about what happens in school!
What can you do? The importance of parents, carers, teachers and children working together is invaluable, especially at this crucial time! Read with your child regularly. Encourage children to complete home learning and always learn basic skills. Get your child to school on time and regularly. Remind children about learning behaviours. Learning isn’t just about what happens in school!
