Be Exemplary with Intermediate Exemplars Please sit with your grade level Vinnie Sharma K-5 District Math Coach

Ten Feet Apartment There is an apartment building called The Ten Feet Apartment Building. The owner allows people and pets to rent apartments in the building, but each family (including pets) can only have a total of 10 feet living in its apartment. Find the different combinations of people and pets that equal 10 feet. Draw pictures and write or tell about your families This is a task from Exemplars. Take a look at your YAAG and see what standard it would match. How could we adapt this exemplar for your grade level. Work with your table and re-write the exemplar.

Let’s take a look… What standard matches this?

What standard matches this?

What standard matches this?

Your Turn…. In your grade level adapt the exemplar Write it on chart paper with the standard Be prepared to share with the group

Let’s See what SMP’s match our exemplar Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. Reason abstractly and quantitatively. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. Model with mathematics. Use appropriate tools strategically. Attend to precision. Look for and make use of structure. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning. At your group decide which SMP’s match the exemplar that you wrote. Be prepared to explain why that SMP matches it.

Thanks! Enjoy the rest of TLC Have a great summer Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions… vinita.sharma@cobbk12.org
