RSC Office of Academic Advising http://www.sage.edu/rsc/resources/advising Tools & Resources for Academic Advising Colleague/Datatel– primarily used by Advising Administrators and Department Chairs; “background” for SageAdvisor SageAdvisor– employed by advisors and students to access student record, transcripts, schedules, mid/final grades, progress toward degree completion Catalog– available online at http://catalog.sage.edu; provides an outline of College policies + degree requirements Advising Office Website– http://www.sage.edu/rsc/resources/advising/ Stacy Gonzalez, Associate Dean for Academic Services gonzas@sage.edu

SageAdvisor Access advisee information via the Faculty Menu in SageAdvisor. Student Profile– student contact info, ID number, academic program, account holds, special services (Honors, HEOP, Athlete), co-advisors Transfer Equivalency Report– shows all transfer credit w/ grades and Sage equivalents Transcript– shows all courses (Sage + transfer) on a single page Schedule– select term + view/print Grades– midterm (if available) + final Program Evaluation– (degree audit) shows progress toward degree

SageAdvisor The evaluation includes anticipated credits that students are either currently taking (IP) and those they are pre-registered for (PR). Students must complete a minimum of 120 credits (for a Bachelor’s degree), at least 45 of which must be taken at Sage.

WLD 101 + WLD 201 satisfy ENG 101, ENG 220, WLD 120 SageAdvisor Note changes in gen ed: WLD 101 + WLD 201 satisfy ENG 101, ENG 220, WLD 120 The Evaluation first lists General Education requirements and then major requirements. Grades for Sage courses are shown on the evaluation and transfer credits are indicated with “TE”. Note that credits can “double count.”

SageAdvisor The cumGPA in your major is calculated in the evaluation. All students must earn a minimum GPA of a 2.2 in their major (some programs have higher requirements) and a 2.0 cumGPA in order to graduate. Depts may approve of substitutions and waivers for major requirements. Look for blank lines on your evaluation that indicate if a course is still needed.

SageAdvisor In addition to major and other gen. ed. requirements, all Sage students must complete a certain number of liberal arts courses, which are identified on the evaluation. BA degrees: 90 liberal arts cr. BS degrees: 60 liberal arts cr. General electives count toward the 120 total credit requirement. Even if a student has met all major and general education requirements, she can’t graduate without 120 credits.

SageAdvisor Students can access a Transfer Equivalency Report online to see how their transfer credits were received at Sage. Courses may transfer in as a Sage equivalent course (FRE 202), as a specific department’s elective (HIS-ELCT), or as general elective credit. Note: Only credits transfer, not grades. Students + Advisors should verify that all credit has transferred in appropriately. Depts may sub transfer credit for major requirements.

RSC Office of Academic Advising http://www.sage.edu/rsc/resources/advising Reminders: Students are tied to the catalog in which they enter. A student may opt to follow a later catalog, but not an earlier one. Waivers of dept requirements that appear in the catalog/degree audit must be approved by the faculty advisor and dept chair. Substitutions of support courses must be approved by the dept. offering the course Substitutions/waivers of gen ed require the approval of the Dean.

RSC Office of Academic Advising http://www.sage.edu/rsc/resources/advising Financial Aid Facts In general, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credits to be considered full-time and eligible for financial aid and on-campus housing. Students must be making satisfactory academic progress in order to remain eligible for state, federal and institutional aid. Ratio of Attempted Credits/Completed Credits Cumulative GPA In general, financial aid is not available for summer study (exception: Discovery Degree students). Students should consult with financial aid staff in Student Services with any questions.
