Thanks for being a Hero Customer! TEACHER TRAINING

WHAT IS HERO? Hero is built for the school heroes. The teachers. The students. Those who inspire greatness. With Hero, track the good with the bad, and reinforce positive behaviors that have the potential to ripple through this school.

WHAT ARE WE HOPING TO ACHIEVE BY ADOPTING HERO? Transform school culture by creating a positive environment for students Prepare students for their future by recognizing positive behaviors Increase student achievement as a result of positive recognition Create an environment where students are excited to go to school Decrease negative behavior incidents “Students want boundaries, to know how to fit into their world. They want to know the limits. Hero allows us to establish and keep the boundaries firm, consistent, and fair.” − Dr. John F. Boldt, Principal, Southern Wayne High School

OUR SCHOOL’S POSITIVE BEHAVIOR REINFORCEMENT PROGRAM GOALS Our Program Goals Include:

Hero is the data collection tool we will use to… 1)Recognize positive behaviors in the classroom, hallways & common areas 2)Award Hero points to students and these points may be redeemed for cool incentives 3)Track, manage and administer our positive behavior program SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR WITH HERO

Champion (main contact) Team Members Include: – OUR SCHOOL’S HERO TEAM

HERO IS PERSONALIZED TO TRACK OUR TARGET BEHAVIORS & GOALS Our Target Behaviors/Goals Include:

EXAMPLE: HOW TO INCORPORATE HERO INTO YOUR LESSONS On Time How will I know when to use Hero for On Time points? EXAMPLE: The Hero champion does shout out over the PA for random periods of each day. “Hey teachers, give Hero points to all students who are in their seats & ready to go!” On Task When do I recognize students for being on-task? EXAMPLE: Students are broken out into small groups within their classroom. The teacher appreciates how they are quietly working on their projects. The teacher opens Hero on the SMART Board and awards Hero points to on-task students. Participation When should I give out Hero points? EXAMPLE: The teacher is reviewing a reading assignment with the class. In the process of asking the class questions regarding what they read, Hero is on the SMART Board and the teacher awards Hero points to the students who answer the questions.

STUDENT INCENTIVES Our Hero Incentives for Students Include:
