Motivation 3 components of Motivation  Inspiring others  Initiative: the ability to act and make decisions without the help of others  Having a goal

Confidence Leaders need self-confidence  Knowing what to do and taking action  Being decisive  Taking responsibility for your decisions

Communication Skills Being able to communicate and discuss employee issues helps leaders deal effectively with different situations Human Relations: the study of how people interact in the workplace and how communication can be improved. Most large companies have a Human Relations Department which handles hiring, firing, records, and any problems in the workplace Good communication also means being involved as a mentor.  As a mentor, you should listen to people as they describe what they are doing to pick up any strengths and weaknesses they may have

Integrity Integrity: an adherence to a code of ethical values such as honesty, loyalty, and fairness  Leaders need to set a good example and follow standards  If leaders sacrifice quality for profit, they may lose the faith of their followers and the company vision
