RULE 6 (2 ND MOST IMPORTANT): NO BLOOD I never, ever wanted to be a nurse. If you are bleeding, I believe you. Do NOT show me!

CONSEQUENCES 1. Warning 2. Silent Lunch 3. Parent Contact 4. Office Referral 5. Parent Conference

WHAT TO DO WHEN _______!

WALKING INTO THE CLASSROOM  Just like last year, when you walk in there will be a Math Review on the board.  You are expected to complete this IN PENCIL in your folder with brackets and do corrections IN PEN.  These will be graded at random. You will also have a Math Review Quiz every 2 weeks (approximately).

PENCILS  Most days I will have sharpened or mechanical pencils for you to BORROW. By BORROW I mean return at the end of class.  If I have a problem with pencils walking away, I will not provide them anymore.

CALCULATORS  I would prefer you bring your own calculator to class, but if that is not an option then I have some you may use.  You must sign out a calculator each time you get one out of the bucket.  When returning the calculator, make sure to turn it OFF and put the top back on CORRECTLY.

NOTEBOOKS  You will need one composition notebook, spiral notebook, or binder for your notes in this class.  Make sure the notebook is for this class only.  Each day you should title and date your notes.  You may choose to create a table of contents, but this is not necessary.

MAKE-UP WORK  It is YOUR responsibility to collect any assignments or notes that you missed will being out.  You have 2 days (per day missed) to complete any missed assignments. After that, points will be taken off accordingly.  If you turn in an assignment late, points will be taken off accordingly.  I understand extreme circumstances, but you have to make me aware of them.

GRADING Your grade will be composed of Category Percentages:  Test-25%  Projects 25%  Quizzes-20%  Classwork-20%  Homework-10%

TURNING IN ASSIGNMENTS  Unless it’s make-up/late work, do not give your assignments to me.  Every class has a basket on the blue counter. Turn in assignments in your correct basket.

PUNCH CARDS  Everyone will receive a Participation Punch Card  You can get a punch for a variety of things including, but not limited to: an excellent grade, volunteering an answer, and a good deed or kind gesture.  After 10 punches, you can attach your card to ANY TEST to receive 5 bonus points on that test.  If you lose your card, I will give you another one but your punches start over.  It is your responsibility to keep up with your card.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

CONTENT  We will be progressing through the Alabama Course of Study. These standards are from the national standards document Common Core State Standards.  There will be times when you are challenge, frustrated and confused, but my expectation for you is to NOT GIVE UP!

BAD DAYS Everyone wakes up on the wrong side of the bed every now and then, but I expect you to CONTINUE TO BE RESPECTFUL TO ME, YOUR CLASSMATES, and YOURSELF.

ASSIGNMENTS I expect you to COMPLETE EACH ASSIGNMENT TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY. I understand that you may not get a 100 on every assignments, what I will not accept is a lack of trying or caring.

BEHAVIOR  You are middle schoolers. No longer are you in any way, shape or form an elementary student. I expect you to ACT LIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT.  You treat everyone with respect. Clean up after yourself. Consistently have your materials ready and come to class prepared. Be ready to work and be ready to learn.

WORKING COLLABORATIVELY There are times when we will work with partners or in small groups. I expect you to DO YOUR SHARE OF THE WORK. Remember: Those that do the work, do the learning.
