Object Pronouns in the Passé Composé Francais II Chapter 4 Grammar 1

Object Pronouns  In Chapter 2 we learned that we can replace direct and indirect objects with object pronouns  Direct object pronouns replace: The person or thing that receives the action of the verb  Indirect object pronouns replace: The person who benefits from the action of the verb

Object Pronouns  Direct object pronouns Me Te Le / la Nous Vous les  Indirect object pronouns Me Te Lui Nous Vous leur When replacing direct and indirect objects in the present tense, the object pronouns go before the conjugated verb in the present tense

Objects in the Passé Composé  In the passé composé, direct and indirect object pronouns go BEFORE the helping verb avoir or être. Tu as parlé à la documentaliste? Oui, je lui ai parlé  The pronouns y and en also come before the helping verb in the passé composé. Oui j’y suis allé hier. J’en ai acheté

Agreement with Object Pronouns  In the passé composé, the past participle agrees with the DIRECT OBJECT if the direct object (or object pronoun) appears BEFORE THE VERB. Nous avons gagné la compétition. La compétition? Nous l’avons gangée.  Indirect objects do not agree with the past participle in the passé composé.
