2. Use to state the result in a hypothetical situation in si clauses
Si + plus que parfait in first clause, past conditional in second clause
To form the past conditional, use the conditional of the helping verb and past participle of main verb

3. Past Conditional EXAMPLES
S’il avait su la réponse, il aurait réussi son examen.
If he had known the answer, he would have passed his test.
Si nous avions vu les Renaud, nous leur aurions parlé.
If we had seen the Renauds, we would have spoken to them
Il se serait réconcillés s’ils s’étaient parlé.
They would have reconcilled, if they had spoken
