 2012 Francis report on Mid Staffordshire Hospital failings  2013 Cavendish Report identified all area’s in UK have different competencies for HCA’s  Care Certificate will demonstrate to the public that HCA’s have the knowledge and skill’s to care for them  Meets CQC recommendations

 Clear evidence of Knowledge and Competence  The Care Certificate is transferrable across the UK  Focus is on fundamental knowledge and skills

 11 Students completed the programme  Completed 20 standards in 3 months  Helped to identify 2 HCA’s that were not suitable for HCA role  Positive feedback from managers on improved knowledge and skills  HCA’s feedback included increased confidence and improved knowledge and understanding of patient needs.
