What is a clause? A group of words that contains a subject and predicate There are two kinds: Independent and dependent A clause that makes sense by itself is an independent clause. has a subject and a verb and expresses a complete thought is also known as a sentence can stand on its own Example: Timmy forgot to do his homework. (Timmy is the subject, forgot is the verb, and a complete thought is expressed.)
