The Rules of Tennis

Rule #1 Opponents stand on opposite side of the court. The server is the person who delivers the ball. The other person who stands across court.

Rule #2 Before the match a coin is tossed to see who is the server and receiver. Who ever wins gets to choose to receive or not and the opponent chooses which side of the court they want.

Rule #3 The server stands behind their out of bounds line. The server can serve until the receiver is ready. If the server steps on the baseline before contact is made, the serve is called a fault.

Rule #4 The receiver can stand wherever he wants during the serve but has to let the ball bounce in the service box. If it doesn’t land in the service box the server gets another chance. If the receiver hits the ball before it bounces the server gets the point

Rule #5 Before the serve the server calls his score first. It goes 15,30,then 45. Love means zero in tennis, after the match is ended the score would go back to “love”.

Rule #6 A match is made up of 3 sets of 6 games. The first to win 2 sets wins the match. If there is a tie breaker, the first teams score to 7 winning by 2 winds the match. This is called a Game- Set-Match.

Rule #7 If the server hits the net during his serve, the server looses his point. If the server hits the net and the ball still goes over it is still in play.

Rule #8 A let happens when the ball rolls on the court or when there is a distraction other than the players during play.

Rule #9 If the ball lands on the line it is good

Rule #10
