AIAA Topic: Conference Attendance U. S. Government attendance  Restrictions are still in place for government travel  Anecdotal discussions indicate that DoD will not participate in any conferences for the remainder of this FY (Sep 30)  No word on what will happen in FY14 Overall attendance is down for all AIAA conferences  Conference attendance is down ~20% for the conferences held so far  Vended events have been canceled or are not being held by AIAA – MDA canceled by the Missile Defense Agency – FAA chose not to use AIAA as event organizer because of government restrictions on conference organization  See Slide 3 Negative impact to AIAA finances  Below budget by $ 1 million 2

AIAA Topic: Conference Attendance Path forward  Still unknown at this time  Level of participation of government employees at future conferences is uncertain Update from AIAA staff  Multiple letters sent to Congress  AIAA Public Policy Committee actively working on Capitol Hill  A new letter was sent to Congress on May 29 from AIAA and over 60 professional societies. Signed by AIAA Executive Director Sandy Magnus – Follow on letter to the one that was sent earlier in the year to OSTP/OMB. – 4
