How to setup your SAS Account THE SELECTIVE ADMISSION SYSTEM You can begin the process of creating your SAS account from the Bluegrass Community and Technical College homepage. From here you will need to click on the “Admissions” link circled in the picture.Admissions

How to setup your SAS Account THE SELECTIVE ADMISSION SYSTEM To continue setting up your SAS account you will need to navigate to the “Selective Admission Programs” section by clicking on the link circled in red.Selective Admission Programs If you are not currently a BCTC student you must also submit a general admission application for the semester you wish to start the Respiratory Care program. This is a separate process from your Selective Admission packet. You can find the BCTC online application by clicking the “How to Apply” link circled in green.How to Apply

How to setup your SAS Account THE SELECTIVE ADMISSION SYSTEM As a first time user, you will need to click on the “Create Account” link in order to begin setting up your account information.Create Account If you have created an account in the past, you may simply use your username and password to login and update your information.

How to setup your SAS Account THE SELECTIVE ADMISSION SYSTEM When completing the initial setup of your account, please be sure to use an address that you maintain regularly. Any contact from BCTC regarding your application will be directed to the you provide here. Once you have completed the initial account setup, you will receive an automated directing you to validate your SAS account. You will need to follow the link to complete your SAS account setup. Please be sure to check your junk folder in case you do not receive the in your inbox.

How to setup your SAS Account THE SELECTIVE ADMISSION SYSTEM You will need to complete your SAS account setup by providing the required contact information. You may login to your account at any time in order to update this information. It is important that we have the most up to date contact information to ensure that you receive notification regarding your acceptance status. Once you have completed your contact information, you may select “Program Info & Interests” in order to print your checklist and begin assembling your packet.

How to setup your SAS Account THE SELECTIVE ADMISSION SYSTEM The first step in putting together your packet is to print the checklist provided on the Program Information & Interests page. You may also checkmark other programs as potential interest should you wish to receive potential notifications of program deadline extensions or changes to requirements. Please note that you may only apply for two programs per semester. While you may indicate you have an interest in many programs, only two packets will be accepted.

 Each document below must be included in your selective admission packet The Respiratory Care Checklist Official college transcripts from every college attended (except KCTCS) ACT or SAT test scores (if you have less than 12 college credit hours) The respiratory care observation/work experience form The pre-admission conference attendance form GPA Recalculation Form (OPTIONAL)  The Office of Admissions will not accept copies of any documents other than approved international documents.  Documents should not be sent to the Office of Admissions separately. We cannot ensure they will be matched with your selective admission packet. This may result in your packet being incomplete and declined. THE SELECTIVE ADMISSION PACKET Document Requirements

Selective admission checklists are unique for each program and must be included in your packet. Checklist are updated annually to reflect any potential changes to a program’s admission requirements. Your checklist must be filled out and signed to be accepted by the Office of Admissions. Remember, your checklist is a quick reference guide that will help ensure your packet is complete. Selective admission checklist REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Some colleges will not release official documents to students. They may stamp a document “Issued to Student” or have an online URL to verify the document’s authenticity. These documents will be considered official for purposes of your selective admission packet. The Office of Admissions encourages you to review all transcripts, high school and college, to ensure they meet the requirements for being considered official.  College transcripts must meet the below criteria to be official: the document must be stamped with the institution’s official seal or printed on the institution’s unique watermarked paper.  International college transcripts must be submitted as a course-by-course evaluation through an approved agency. You may find a list of approved evaluation agencies at College transcripts REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

ACT or SAT scores are only required if you have not earned at least 12 college credit hours. Remedial courses such as MAT 108 or any courses below the 100 level are not counted toward this requirement. ACT scores can be ordered from SAT scores can be ordered at  Test scores must meet the following criteria to be official: They must be printed on the testing organization’s unique paper  Test results printed on an official high school transcript will be accepted as official.  If you are currently enrolled at a Kentucky Community and Technical College System school you can login to PeopleSoft and access any ACT or SAT scores that may be on file through your Student Services Center. If you have a completed work experience/observation form from a previous application year, you may re-use the form in your current packet.  Your work experience/observation form must be filled out and signed by both the you and the person supervising the observation in order to be accepted by the Office of Admissions.  Each application must show a minimum of at least four hours of work experience or observation. Pre-admission conferences are unique to each selective admission program. Please be sure that the conference form you include in your packet is for the correct program.  Your pre-admission conference attendance form must be filled out and signed in order to be accepted by the Office of Admissions.  Pre-admission conference forms from previous years will not be accepted. The pre-admission conference is an annual requirement and all submitted forms must be from a conference no more than twelve months prior to the program’s application deadline. Please note that the GPA Recalculation Option must mirror BCTC’s Senate Rules regarding the Academic Bankruptcy Option. This means that students who have earned an Associate or Bachelor degree from any college or university are not eligible for the GPA Recalculation Option. Students seeking to bankrupt KCTCS coursework to improve their GPA will need to see the Records Office regarding process and eligibility.  The course work must not be from a KCTCS school. Only college coursework from another college/university is eligible. (Examples: UK, EKU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, etc.)  You must have at least 12 credit hours at a KCTCS school, 100 level or above, with at least a 2.0 GPA or higher. This does not include MA 108 or remedial coursework.  There must be a break of at least two years between previous college work and the more recent KCTCS college work. This means 2 Fall and Spring semesters. Qualifications G.P.A. RECALCULATION

How to submit your request G.P.A. RECALCULATION In order to submit a request for GPA recalculation, you must submit the GPA recalculation form with your admission packet. The GPA recalculation form can be found on the Admissions page by clicking on the “GPA Recalculation Form” link.

Your packet may be submitted to any of the following locations, the Office of Admissions in Room 119 of the Oswald Building (Cooper Campus), the One Stop Student Service Center in Building C (Leestown Campus), the Lawrenceburg campus, or the Danville campus. If you choose to mail your packet it must be postmarked by the application deadline. Any packets postmarked after the deadline will be declined.  The completed selective admission packet must be submitted to the Office of Admissions by February 16, 2015 to be considered for the Fall 2015 semester.  The Office of Admissions will not accept any documents past the deadline. Please check your SAS account to ensure your submitted packet is complete. Application Deadlines SUBMITTING YOUR PACKET

Your acceptance status is updated through your SAS account the same day letters are placed in the mail. As a result, the quickest way to find out your acceptance status is to check your SAS account. Shortly after your SAS account acceptance status is updated you should received you official paperwork in the mail. Please note that your SAS account will not show your acceptance status until all selections are approved through committee.  After you have setup your SAS account and submitted your application packet, it can take 10 business days before your information is processed and displayed through your SAS account. You will receive an automated when your information is added and completed.  Acceptance information will be updated in SAS and mailed out during the first week of November. Students that do not complete their acceptance paperwork by the required deadline will forfeit their place in the program. As a result, it is very important that you check your SAS account and ensure your information is up to date. It is your responsibility to ensure your acceptance paperwork is received. You have the option of declining your position. If you choose to do so, you may not reclaim your place in the program at a later date and will be required to re-apply.  Should you be accepted for admission or accepted as an alternate, your letter will contain paperwork which must be completed and returned to the Office of Admission by the stated deadline.  If your SAS account shows you were accepted for admission or as an alternate, but you do not receive your paperwork by April 15, you will need to contact the Office of Admission. Please be aware that due to FERPA regulations only limited information regarding your account may be provided over the phone. It is recommended that you contact our office using the address you setup your SAS account under.
