Transitioning with the Jagenda! Your student’s Jagenda/planner will be an extremely helpful tool and is suggested to keep track of all assignments. Homework is listed on the board daily. Students copy it into their Jagendas at the start of class. Please feel free to check their Jagenda’s daily. Verify with our website!!!!

How to contact us: and us and we will get right back to you ( please allow a minimum of 48 Schoolwires/Parent Portal – a valuable resource to see grades, homework, & attendance –“Our Schools” “Folsom Middle” –Click the appropriate teacher i.e. Wagner or Smith

Grading Standard grading scale – course syllabus Jagenda grade checks will be on Schoolwires/parent portal on the assigned dates in the handbook. Please check grades on Schoolwires/parent portal regularly- also please allow access to your child so they can responsibly check as well! Online Grade Codes- M=missing(0) and L=late(50%) No late credit is given to reading logs or Science vocabulary Attitude and effort counts!

Class Procedures “ No Name” box – graded work that students can claim with no penalty during the 1 st trimester. *2 nd & 3 rd Trimester “no-names” earn ½ credit. Absent Box- all extra handouts organized by date to get upon return from being gone. (Math HW comes from consumable text book). Late work turn in box- please label accordingly when turning work in late. Each student has a folder where ALL of their corrected work goes. They have access to this at all times. They are cleaned out at the end of every trimester.

Success Work in blue and black ink and ALL Math is completed in pencil. Work turned in on time, late work goes to half credit and may only be turned in late up to 1 week past the original due date! They will need to check our class websites, master log or table of contents (for History and Science) and the absent box when they return from an absence for their work prior to return. Positive attitude and improvement Keep up on homework and projects

Class WebPages You can find daily classwork and homework on our teacher pages Each subject will have their own page within our webpage. Curriculum and Common Core Standards

Ancient Civilization in the 6 th Grade This year your students will be looking back in time. We will be studying the following topics: Archaeology ~ Geography ~Early Humans~ Mesopotamia Israel~ Egypt~ India~ China~ Greece~ Rome Foundation of the future! Mysteries of the Past

History Interactive Notebooks My class is required to keep an interactive Notebook. Students will have “Notebook Tests” at the end of each unit (every 3-7 weeks) where they will not only be tested on CA content standards/CCSS but notebook organization, quality and completeness as well. 10 point homework stamps are recorded on an assignment log for nightly homework. Work must not only be complete on time, but also must meet all of the requirements given in class. Stamp logs will then be collected at the end of each unit and recorded in the grade book. HW assignments listed on the stamp log will only be given late credit 24 hours past the class period due. They will need to check the master notebook and master log when they return from an absence, Homeroom is the best time to do this. Directions and above and beyond ideas are located in the front and back of their notebook

ABOVE AND BEYONDS These are extra credit options offered in each unit. If your student would like, they may choose from the list of Interactive notebook ideas in the back of the notebook or if they have another idea they are always welcome to try something new! The topic chosen must reflect and make a connection to what we are studying at the time. Above and Beyond’s will be turned in at the end of each unit on the designated date, they will be worth up to 10 extra credit points. This will be listed as a separate extra credit grade in my grade book.

Course 1 Mathematics Homework is assigned nightly and will review the lesson taught that day. Homework will be corrected the following day. Students will receive full HWcredit as long as 1)all work is shown 2)all problems are attempted (2 pts possible for each HW) You should also see correction notes on any missed problems (giving an explanation of why they missed). Late work is accepted for ½ credit up to 1 week after due date. PLEASE utilize the online text – lots of extra help!

Success in Math Complete homework in pencil and correct in colored ink pen. Legible work with correct heading. Work turned in on time, late work goes to half credit and only accepted for one week after it is due! Great attendance- all absent work is made up and turned in. (2 days for every one day absent/reasonable amount of time) Positive attitude and 100% effort. Keep up on homework and projects.

6 th Grade Science Major Areas of Study: Natural Resources and Hazards, Human Impacts on Earths Systems, Weather and Climate, Plate Tectonics- Earthquakes and Volcanoes, Water, The History of the Planet, Earth and the Solar System. Homework will be assigned 1-3 nights a week. Homework will include reading/review questions that will pertain to class discussion. The Science Notebook (Science Journal) is a compilation of class work, lab activities, bell- ringers, vocabulary and all other assigned work.

6 th Grade Earth Science My class is required to keep a Science Notebook; students bring it to class EVERY DAY! Students will have “Notebook Tests” at the end of each unit (every 3-7 weeks) where they will not only be tested on Science content, but also on notebook organization, quality and completeness as well. Check Schoolwires for absent info.

Technology: All district rules apply in the classroom when it comes to technology. We are very lucky to be piloting an IPad lab in my core classes and we want to make sure they are taken care of and used with RESPECT. Each student will be assigned an IPad number to keep the use consistent across our two rooms. If there is any problem with staying on task or not treating them with care, your student will be taken off the IPad’s until a meeting can be set up with their parents to discuss the problem.
