Audience Expectations If you present a presentation that the audience is not interested in they will fidget the whole time or walk out. You need to identify what the audience is there for and focus on that. If the participants have no commitment or enthusiasm about the presentation than they are simply not interested. If the audience is not committed they will not take in the information being presented to them.

Skills for Public Speaking. What skills are needed for an effective presentation. The skill to speak in public The skill to multi task Clear speaking Voice Eye contact with the audience Knowledge of the information being presented so the presenter is able to answer questions throughout the presentation. Confidence Listening skills.

Strategies for Presentations An Ice Breaker eases the tension and makes the presenter feel more at ease once the audience has relaxed. Great Ice Breaker activities are getting a group of people to work together to play a few games to get to know each other before a presentation.

Advantages and Disadvantages of using handouts Advantages Using handouts can shorten the presentation. Handouts let the audience understand what the presentation is about. Disadvantages Take the focus of the presentation Audience may choose not to read a handout The audience may interrupt the presentation with questions about the hand out.

Involving the Audience Involve the audience in the presentation. Lots of eye contact throughout the presentation. Ask the audience questions and their opinions The presenter should use a lot of empathy and work the tone of their voice at different points in the presentation.
