2. I can creatively and effectively design and present a 15 minute seminar which engages the audience

3.  I show confidence and knowledge of my topic during the seminar You are more likely to engage your audience if you discuss your topic rather than simply reading from slides You are the expert on your topic – be confident and communicate your information to the best of your ability Make it clear that you know a great deal about your topic

4.  My seminar is planned and fills the required time Make it obvious that you have clearly planned your seminar and you have control over the length of each activity Do not spend too long on one section/activity/discussion question Be confident in your role as the seminar leader Have a few “tricks” in your “pocket” in case your audience does not discuss for as long as you intended or participation is weak and your seminar is short in length

5.  My presentation engages the audience Make the audience part of your topic – ask them questions; have discussion that allows for people to show their opinions on your topic

6.  My visual aids / creative elements support and enhance learning Include the most important graphs or charts from your report Include photos/visuals on your slides to make it more visually appealing (but be sure your information can be clearly viewed) If possible, include a short clip that relates to your topic Be sure that all visuals and clips are relevant to your topic and support and enhance the audience’s understanding of your topic

7.  Communicates effectively for a seminar audience Be appealing in your presentation style – people are more likely to be engaged if you are not reading directly from your slides Be sure to be equitable in your control of discussion Use a loud voice; enunciation; free of slang; professional vocab; maintain eye contact with audience

8.  Use power point or prezi as a visual to guide your seminar  Early in your presentation, explain your methods and results (you do not necessarily have to start with this; you may want to start with an opening activity which does not reveal your results)  You may want the audience to partially participate in part of your primary research (e.g. a mini experiment, asking some of your survey questions, etc)  Include some of your secondary research, but focus on your primary research and results
