Career Tech Offerings In 11 th grade you will be given the opportunity to take a course in a specific content area. These tend to be 2 year courses. These courses take 3 periods/day and are at PSH, NHS, and VF Make sure that you take a full schedule in grades 8, 9 and 10 so that you have room for one of these courses if you are interested!

Project Lead The Way Engineering pathway begins in 9 th grade. Elective Gateway to Technology STEM is the 8th grade elective that introduces the PLTW courses. Intro to Engineering Principles of Engineering Digital Electronics Aerospace Design College Credit can be earned if all 4 courses are completed successfully.

College Credit Plus COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS PROGRAM You can earn college and high school credits at the same time. You will receive a letter home about an informational meeting in February DUAL ENROLLMENT Taking CCC courses at PSH. Same requirements apply. Courses offered will be in English, Art Deadlines are extremely important! See your counselor during registration for more information

8 th Grade What to Know Parma Sr. High has an 8 period day. School starts at 7:55 and ends at 2:35 4 minutes in-between each class You will start earning credits for all elective classes and Honors Math Classes that earn credit for will be reflected on your transcript when you go to college. Grades will effect your grade point average.

8 th Grade Houses Students separated into 3 houses: USA! House U House S House A Similar to middle school, you will have your 4 core teachers in a house. Students in the same house will eat lunch during the same period.

8 th graders will represent Shiloh athletics due to athletic regulations. Students participating in athletics will practice at Shiloh after school. Transportation will be provided to Shiloh for practices. Athletic Eligibility

To be eligible for Fall sports, 8 th graders must have passed 75% of their 4th quarter classes in the previous grade. Students must have 5 courses EACH semester on their schedule (PE does not count, as it is ¼ credit) and earn a 1.0 GPA to be eligible to participate Athletic Eligibility

Honors Classes Shiloh students will get honors recommendations from House Teachers. Student may not register for Honor’s course without teacher recommendation. If you have questions, contact your teacher or counselor. Parochial/Community School students can bring letter of recommendation from current teacher in that subject. You will earn high school credit for high school math

How to Choose Your Courses Core Classes: Math 8 or Algebra 1 Honors Language Arts 8 Social Studies 8 Science 8 Lunch 8 th graders may also take one Study Hall per semester

How to Choose Your Courses Elective Classes: All 8 th grade electives will earn credits towards high school graduation. Grades earned will be calculated into cumulative GPA and will be on transcript which will be sent to colleges after graduation.

What Happens Next? Counselors will be at Shiloh on Friday January 8th to help students choose classes. Completed and signed registration forms should be returned to Mrs. Buczak by Friday January 15 th. Course requests can be viewed on HAC once entered by counselor. Students new to district must make appointment with Ms. Tsangeos to create a schedule by January 25th.
