All About Me My background I grew up in Rock Island, Illinois I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Illinois State University. I got married last October. My teaching experience I served as a substitute teacher my first year out of college. I taught third grade for five years Fourth year teaching fifth grade

Classroom Community Our classroom is a learning community. In our community, we establish ground rules together to help us learn and grow throughout the school year. Our class rules begin with, but are not limited to: Follow directions the first time they are given Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself at all times Speak kindly Respect others Try your best
Discipline When a classroom ground rule or Banner Core Value is broken, the following steps will be taken: Green: Verbal Warning Yellow: Lose 5 minutes of recess Yellow with a sticker: Mrs. Young’s Choice Red: Mr. Fairchild’s Choice Students will keep track of their behavior in their assignment notebook daily by coloring how they did each day, along with a note for why they flipped their card. Students who received a red will bring home a think sheet for you to sign.
Birthdays Throughout the school year we will recognize birthdays and half birthdays. If you wish to send a treat, please make sure you have 29 treats. Treats must be individually wrapped store bought treats with the ingredient label on the packaging. We are a nut free classroom.
Odds & Ends Scholastic Book Clubs- Once a month Banner Website 5H Website Field Trips Challenger Center- September 10 th Lincoln Museum- Springfield, IL- October 19 th Hult Center is an outreach program for 5 th grade (they will be coming to Banner on May 20 th ) Volunteer Note (in packet)
