RUSHVILLE FOOTBALL “TEAM First”

Preparation (i.e. Practice) – “If they practice, they will play” somewhere on the football field on Friday or Monday nights. It does not guarantee a starting position or significant playing time” – If a player has a minor injury or an illness which allows them to be at school, they are expected to be at practice to observe and learn. – If there is a problem, see one of the coaches AFTER practice and we will either discuss there after players have left or set up a meeting. The following topics will not be discussed: – Playing time (Trust the coaching staff, trust your son, everything will take care of itself). Your son should be the one talking to the coaches if they are not playing. – Other players 2TEAM FIRST 2016

FOOTBALL RULES TO LIVE BY 1.If you are late to practice, team meetings, or pre-game time (usually 90 minutes prior to a home game) it will cost you quarters. If you are on time, you are LATE! 2.If you receive a detention, it will cost you quarters. If you are suspended from school, it will cost you a game or two. It can be more depending on the severity of the act. 3.If you skip practice (means at school but did not go to practice), it will cost you quarters. 4.If rules #1 through #3 become a problem, you WILL BE dismissed from the team. TEAM FIRST 20163

FOOTBALL RULES TO LIVE BY 5.Hazing of any kind will NOT BE TOLERATED 6.Cellphones, tablet PC’s or MP3 devices are NOT allowed in the locker room during practices or games. You may store them in your lockers, but you cannot have them out during practice or games. 7.Once football season starts (August 1st ), football should be the ONLY sport you should be playing. If I find out you are playing travel baseball, attending basketball or wrestling workouts, myself and Mr. Green will meet with you. 8.Going to work is NOT an excused absence to miss football. Your focus should be on school and football. Both activities will demand much of your time and it is important you stay the course with each. TEAM FIRST 20164

FOOTBALL RULES TO LIVE BY 9.Academics are important and grade checks will be conducted every three weeks. If you are failing multiple classes, you will be asked to focus on your academics before returning to the football team. 10.You MUST sit at the front of the classroom unless your teacher has an alphabetic seating chart. 11.Stealing a teammates personal items or money will NOT be tolerated and you will be dismissed from the team 12.Be smart with social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc…) Do NOT antagonize opponents, bad mouth coaches/teammates, school, etc…Discipline will be on a case-by-case basis. Think before you send!!! TEAM FIRST 20165

FOOTBALL RULES TO LIVE BY 13.If you are going to miss a practice/game, you must personally tell the head football coach. You had an entire summer (9 weeks) you could have gone on a vacation. It is time to focus on school and football. Do NOT plan vacations during Labor Day Monday or Fall Break, we will practice! 14.If you are hurt/injured/sick but at school, you are expected to attend football practices either with the athletic trainer or football team. 15.DO NOT CURSE/CUSS/BAD MOUTH a teammate, coach, opponent, etc... at any time. It will not be tolerated. TEAM FIRST 20166

Summer workouts & scrimmages Why are summer workouts & scrimmages important? – Install all three phases of the game before the season – Build team unity (family) – Condition physically and mentally (Preparation) – Test ability against other schools and their players (competition) Possible scrimmages (Triton Central & Greenwood in June) & (Knightstown/New Castle/Tri-High in July) 7 on 7 in June at Earlham college TEAM FIRST 20167

Summer workout & scrimmages – Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are workout days Morning lifting session (TBA) Afternoon lifting session ( pm) Football work from pm – High School Football Camp (end of June) – Basketball is Monday, Wednesday and Friday – Baseball will have double headers TEAM FIRST 20168

Summer Breaks Players get two weeks off during the summer – Moratorium #1 (July 3 rd – July 10 th ) – Last week of July will be conditioning workouts on Monday and Tuesday. TEAM FIRST 20169

Attendance Policy (Starts Aug. 1st) As follows for an unexcused absence: – 1 missed practice = 1-2 quarters lost – 2 missed practices = 1 game suspension – 3 missed practices = off team Unexcused absence defined: – Not talking to HC about missing practice – Going on vacation during football season Labor Day we will practice at 4pm so if you go on vacation somewhere be back before 4 pm Fall Break is the beginning of our state playoffs, no exceptions here. We will practice at 3 pm on Fall break. – At school, but skip practice – Not attending a varsity or JV game. – Being injured and not showing up for rehab and team support. If a player is injured they are still part of the team. – Going to work (a player can set work schedule) ONLY exception farm hand. New Procedure for 2016, regardless of reason or excuse, a player will have “make-up” conditioning if they miss or are late to practice. COMMUNICATION IS KEY TO SOLVING MANY PROBLEMS TEAM FIRST
