Learn the fundamentals of basketball Prepare athletes to be successful at the High School level Players can expect to play in at least one contest each week.

6 Policies & Rules Practice Attendance
Players are expected to be at all practices Players who miss practice due to an excused absence may be held out 1 qtr. of the next game Players who miss practice due to an un-excused absence may miss the next game. A player may be removed from the team after 3 unexcused absences. Academics & Behavior Players are students first. Poor grades and/or behavior will have a direct impact on playing time. 7 Policies & Rules Supervision
Practices/Home games - After school players need to meet in Mr. Sims’ room – 501. They will then be taken to the locker room to change. Away Games – Players will ride the bus to the opposing school. They will be met by a coach and taken to the approved supervision area. Note – All players need to stay in the supervised area with their coach at all times. Players who leave the supervised area or misbehave under supervision, may miss the next game. Multiple offenses result in removal from the team.

8 Athlete Transportation
Practice Pick-up Practice will end at 4:30pm Please arrange transportation home for your child. If consistently late, athlete may be removed from team Game Pick-up Players will be bussed to away games Parents must arrange for transportation home

9 General Information and Team Policies
Injuries – Let coaches know immediately after you suffer ANY kind of injury Head Injuries –Athletes who show signs of having a concussion will not be allowed to return to play. Some examples of signs & symptoms reported by athletes: Headache Nausea Dizziness Double vision or dizziness Sensitivity to light or noise Feeling sluggish Feeling foggy or groggy Concentration or memory problems Confusion

11 Parent/Coach Conduct It is important for coaches and parents to model appropriate behavior for these young athletes. Mistakes may be made by each of these groups. 14 Gear All players will be issued gear. All lost gear will be subject to a replacement fee. Additional fees payable to STMS:

15 Friday Early Release As you know, Tahoma has adopted a schedule for professional staff development that will use training sessions every Friday afternoon for teachers. Basketball players must choose to do one of the following: Remain at school for study table sessions until practice begins at 2:30. Leave school at the early dismissal time and then return for practice at 2:30. Students who stay must follow the behavioral guidelines set for the study tables or they may be removed. Any player removed from the study tables will be required to go home on Fridays and will have to arrange their own ride back to practice.
