3 Injuries and Athletic Training Information *Athletic Trainer will be on campus one day a week *When appropriate see the athletic trainer before going to the doctor when an injury has occurred *Physical *By the first day of school

4 Philosophy of Playing Time and Team/Position Placement *”Gold” and “Black” Teams -Everyone makes the team, divided based on ability and success for athlete -Everyone should expect to play (unless disciplinary, injury, or attendance issues prevent playing time).

5 Philosophy of Playing Time and Team/Position Placement Factors in determining your son’s position assignment: *7 th grade get to try out, 8 th grade positions for the most part pre-determined * What position gives you the best chance to get on the field? *What position gives your team the best chance for success? *What position do you really want to play? -we want our kids to be motivated to play!

6 Player Expectations 1.Classroom – Student before athlete 2.Behavior/Character on and off the field 3.Effort 4.Unselfish – Willing to do what’s necessary to help his team 5.Willing to be a part of a family 6.Understand they represent Navo Panthers Football 24/7

7 Coaches’ Expectations 1.100% effort in the development of the student athlete 2.Create a positive, enthusiastic, family atmosphere that builds confidence and character 3.Make football FUN! 4.Hold your son accountable for his actions 5.Open line of communication with players and parents

8 Parents’ Expectations 1.Be supportive of coaches and program 2.Open line of communication with coaches 3.Demand and expect accountability for your son: classroom, playing field, off the field 4.Understand that coaches must make decisions based on what’s best for the entire program 5.Get involved! 6.Check Navo Football Website Regularly

9 Academic Eligibility and Tutoring No Pass/No Play: *Effective at the END of each six weeks’ grading cycle *We have 9 week grading cycles *Eligibility may be regained if the following progress report reflects all passing grades Tutoring: *We typically do not allow players to miss practice for academic tutoring *There are exceptions to this rule, but we strongly encourage our players to make arrangements for tutoring outside of practice time *7 th grade after school. 8 th grade before school

10 Discipline Policy At Practice: “Bear Crawls” for misbehavior in class, etc. Partial or Whole Game Suspension: Unexcused absence from practice; one or more excused absences during a given week Removal from Program: Only as a last resort; when all other options have been exhausted

11 Parent Communication 24 Hour Rule Don’t talk directly after a game Coaches will talk about anything pertaining to our program except: *playing time *other kids Please follow the Chain of Command when you have a grievance: *Position Coach *Head Coach *Athletics Coordinator *Principal

12 Parent Communication We will be FAIR to all of our kids. Universal Truth: No one’s child ever gets enough _____________. Parents at Practice: We love it; let us coach your kids. - Cannot be on field Importance of everyone “pulling the same direction.” *our kids need to hear positives from you at home.

13 7 th Grade Practice Schedule MONDAY (Game Day) – 8 AM Walkthrough TUESDAY – 8 AM Film WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY - On the field at 6:45

14 8 th Grade Practice Schedule MONDAY – Released at the end of the school day TUESDAY - Game Day WEDNESDAY – Practice After School until 4:45 THURSDAY – Practice After School until 4:45 FRIDAY – Practice After School until 4:45

15 Gameday Schedule and Meals Gameday Schedule: Players are not allowed to leave campus after school on game days. Ride on Bus to and from the games Pick up from school before you get food Pregame Team Meals: Bring meal to back of school by dumpsters for your athlete, not the front office Bring something healthy

16 Uniforms *Wear assigned uniforms *Athletic uniforms-required *Look the same *Black and white cleats *Allowed to wear ONE Pink Breast Cancer Apparel for the games in October (3)

17 Safety Water Planned water stations Water when needed Drink plenty of water throughout the day Helmets All helmets are inventoried Adams Youth Elite 2 Schutt Youth Vengeance Hybrid Riddell Revolution Pete Carroll Tackling Teaches tackling with shoulder (Rugby Tackling) Makes the game safer while still maintaining the physicality of the game.
