Ways to obtain information Team Wiki Page- andovermiddleschoolfootball.pbworks.com - It will have weekly practice schedule times. REMIND 101- text @coachweide to the phone number (703) 997- 8231

Ways to volunteer We are always looking for volunteers for the following- -Help with game day meals. - Help with game day video. - Help with equipment issues during the game (helmet or shoulder pads). -Help with T-shirt designs and ordering. - Help with equipment / jersey repairs.

Our coaching philosophy 1.Develop well rounded football players 2.WIN GAMES 3.Prepare players for high school 4.HAVE FUN!!!

WHAT DETERMINES PLAYING TIME? TOTAL ABILITY AS A STUDENT / ATHLETE PHYSICAL ABILITY- MENTAL ABILITY- Can they learn the playbook? RESPONSIBILITY- Are they in trouble with teachers / coaches ? Are they at practice on time? Have all of their equipment ready. FLEXIBILITY- How many positions can they play? How can we get them on the field RELIABILITY- Are they at every practice ? Are they often injured? Do they have detentions?

EXPECTATIONS OF PLAYERS EFFORT--- everyday, in every play make yourself as well as your teammate better HONOR – your school your teammates your coaches your equipment your opponent the game of football

INDIVIDUAL DISCIPLINE Will be in the form of extra conditioning at the END of practice Most common reasons for discipline 1. Equipment left out /unlocked 2. Bad grades 3. Unexcused absence from practice 4. Disrespect directed towards coach or teammate

TEAM DISCIPLINE Will be in the form of extra conditioning at the BEGINNING of practice Most common reasons for discipline 1. Team Equipment left out 2. Locker room mess 3. Inappropriate behavior on bus 4. Unsportsmanlike penalties 5. Unsportsmanlike behavior before or after the game (trash talking, Twitter)

Expectations of the parents Be a parent first, not a coach. Be your son’s biggest fan, not his harshest critic. Cheer for the entire team, not just your son. Football is the ultimate team game. Communicate with a coach if your son is going to miss practice, understand that not all excuses are treated the same. Know the weekly schedule so that your son isn’t late for a practice. Drop off and pick up your son behind the school. Communicate with the head coach any medical issues or medications that your child may have.

SIGNING OUT AFTER A GAME All sign out sheets will be at the water cooler after the A game and the front door to the bus after a B game. You will need to sign out for all away games and any games at South District Stadium. Student will need to have book-bag with him as the school will be locked. Parent must sign out a player or the player will be SUSPENDED from the NEXT GAME. As a coach, the bus ride home is a great time to reflect with a player on any positives or negatives from the game. Also, it is a great time to celebrate with the team after a victory and share in the agony of defeat. When at all possible, please allow your son to partake in the bus ride home.

A TEAM / B TEAM ROSTERS Rosters are fluid and will be determined the day before a game. Students will be notified during practice and a list will be posted on the team wiki page. Rosters could even change on game day due to illness/ injuries during PE / detentions, ETC.

Understanding the chain of command when dealing with issues. 1. Talk to your son 2. Have your child talk to the coach 3. Set up a time for the player, parent, coach and AD to meet. Coaches will not return phone calls and emails concerning playing time, position changes, etc., until we have had time to do the following. 1. head coach has met with the player 2. head coach has met with the position coach 3. head coach and position coach has met with AD

GAME DAY- Players will wear their GAME jersey on days in which there are both A and B games. BLUE JERSEY = HOME GAMES WHITE JERSEY = AWAY GAMES Players will have uniforms tucked in For dates in which only B team plays the players may decide to wear / not wear game jerseys.
