We will continue sending reading folders home each evening. These will contain a reading book, sound cards- that will be added to on a weekly basis and “tricky words” for your child to recognise. Please return this folder to school every day. Children are aware of the progress they are making and are keen to learn and can get upset when their reading folder is absent. Dear Parents Welcome back to an exciting Spring Term. I am pleased to say that your child has returned to school, keen and eager to learn many exciting new things. As you are aware it is vital that staff and parents work together, so if you have any worries or concerns about your child, please come and talk to any member of the Reception Staff. Detailed below is some key information that will help this term run smoothly. We will continue to use the topic approach to our learning and will be planning from the children's questions and interests. Our topics this term are..... Spring One Nursery Rhymes and Stories Spring Two Food PE- Our P.E session will continue to be on a Wednesday, so can you please ensure your child has a named P.E kit in school for the entire week. Please encourage your child to dress and undress independently at home, as this is part of their expected development. Water bottles- It is important that your child has a named water bottle in school every day. Children learn best when they have free access to drinking water. All the Reception Staff have been impressed with the regular return of home learning. This will continue to be given to your child on a Tuesday and will need to be returned the following Monday. On behalf of all the Reception Staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support in enabling your child to complete their home learning.

The children will continue to learn new sounds every week at school and these will be inserted into their reading folders. Will you please ensure you practise these every night and encourage your child to blend these sounds together to read simple words. We are also encouraging the children to know the letter name of each sound and would appreciate your support in reinforcing this as well. Thursday 14 th January Pirate Day Friday 29 th January History Day Monday 15 th February Half Term Friday 4 th March Glam Day Monday 7 th March Class Photos Wednesday 9 th March Reception sharing assembly Thursday 10 th March Spring Soiree Years 3 and 4 Tuesday 22 nd March Parent Consultations Thursday 24 th March Parent Consultations Friday 1 st April End of Term 2pm If you have any problems or questions please do not hesitate to talk to any member of the Reception Staff. We are always available at the end of the school day and will also arrange a convenient time to suit you. May we thank you for your continued support as this is greatly appreciated. Mrs Manly, Miss Williams, Miss Dring, Mrs Henry, Miss Cooper, Mrs Wiedenstriet. We always welcome parents into the classroom to play with the children and help them with their learning. If you would like to do this please can you talk to a member of the Reception Staff so we can organise a rota and plan appropriate activities. As the weather improves the Reception garden also needs a little attention and the children would love to help some parents dig, weed, tidy up or plant seeds etc. If this interests you, please could you also talk to the Reception Staff.
